Big Flower Miao woman showing her skirt where the pattern has been created
by indigo dye and stitch resist rather than batik as has the apron on
the woman in the background. This stitch resist is preferred over
batik for work clothes as the women said that it was more hard wearing
- it probably takes longer to do the batik wax resist which would be another
reason for keeping it for more special occasions - Xian Ma village, Hou
Chang township, Puding county, Guizhou province
