Big Flower Miao - block of wax with instruments for batik in foreground. To the right the small balls of fibre are spliced hemp. the larger bundle of wound fibre behind is ramie which has been stripped from the branch but not yet spliced. Note that the the hemp (especially where it has not been lightened by the flash bulb) is a darker colour than the ramie.
