Close up of the batik and chain stitch embroidery decoration on the bottom
of Big Flower Miao girls' skirts. The fabric has been waxed on both
sides with all the white areas covered in wax resist. This has been
very well done as the white is very pure and there is very little 'cracking'
visible on the plain white hemp or ramie fabric. Xian Ma village,
Hou Chang township, Puding county, Guizhou province
