73K Jpeg Silver Palaung woman in Pein Ne Bin village, near Kalaw in southwestern Shan State, weaving a length of cotton fabric to make a tube skirt similar to the one she is wearing. Note the narrow stripes in warp threads. She is using a very simple backstrap loom with a wide leather back support. She is wearing a velvet decorated cap which is reputed to be worn by young girls and unmarried women although she appeared to be a married woman with a husband and baby. She has a very wide band of decoration using many rows of sequins on the back of her blouse.
