A
new (end 20th beginning 21st century) woven fragment showing an ancestor
figure between two bird riding on the back of a siho, a mythological animal
half-lion, half-elephant unique to the Lao culture and considered to be
imbued with special powers. Woven in cotton, probably chemical dyed supplementary
weft coloured threads. This fragment had been made into a cushion cover
and then exported to Malaysia.
