The Amarapura alchemistThis man, living nextdoor to the Amarapura indigo dyers, referred to himself as an alchemist. He explained that, by melting pellets of iron and adding bits and pieces of other metals he would make a magic metal which would turn all it touched to gold. Apparently this was similar to the myth relating to the funding of the building of the temples and monuments at Pagan. |
