After much travel in Indonesia I have managed to collect a lovely group of hand-drawn batiks that inspired this exhibition, Blossoming Dexterity. Because of the rapid commercialisation of batiks there are many machine printed fabrics selling as batik and this has created a misconception of what true batik really is. I hope that this show can clearly demonstrate the amazing work, passion and dedication involved in the production and intricate decoration of batik so that all can continue to truly appreciate these cloths as rightful works of art.

初夏一段漫長的印尼諸島之旅程後，幸得一批精美的手工繪製蠟染，也啟發「妙手生花」這個展覽。因為過去在東南亞蠟染商業化的大量需求，很多機器印製的布料，誑稱為蠟染充斥市面。因此大眾對於蠟染這項複雜藝術表現與細緻工藝結合的織品，總有些誤會。展覽中一件件令人讚嘆的蠟染作品，將忠實呈現蠟染的真實面貌，沈澱回歸至先人妙手生花，渾然天成的藝術表現。歡迎來坐。
