Hi all , I have posted a few observations this evening including some info about me. Julie Emery trading in Timorese Textiles for 23 years (1700 textiles to date, helping to preserve cultural integrity through textiles and carvings). I travel the hills and highroads annually and pay all weavers direct, on the spot, for the fabulous pleasure of bring out and hopefully sustaining this still very traditional tribal craft.
Alongside the carvings of the men each piece is unique and the weaver may not tell the same story twice. Those of you who are familiar with West Timorese textiles know about the huge variety of color , construction , motifs and stories that the cloths have to share.
My website has a section dedicated to Weavings which is further broken down in to sub-categories that you can search by area or by style. All of the textiles that I have traded to date have been fully cataloged, documented and photographed. Each textile has a square of calico carefully tacked on to it that describes where it is from, the technique applied to achieve the motif which is also described and where possible the name of the weaver, and sometimes a photo of her/him in situ.
Currently I have over 500 textiles looking for good homes

Blessings and any questions...just ask...stories told...information shared.
