I have noticed two posts from Olivier (3/7/03 NS 11/2/05) re an old Danzai jacket. I have one of the same style which I am not so much 'weeding out' as reluctantly deciding to 'let go'.
I bought my jacket in l996 and it is obviously very old and very well worn. It is the only one I have ever seen but it follows the style of those shown in Gina Corrigan's book and 'Clothings and Ornaments of China's Miao People" .
It would seem that part of the back of my jacket has been removed and replaced with a section of indigo batik. This looks as if it is the panel from a baby carrier but cut in two to fit the space.
Silk felt appears to have been employed in some of applique which is reminiscent of the silk felt applique in Zhouxi work.
I have now listed this jacket, with more photographs, on ebay Number 220748605500 under Antiques, textiles linens in my store tradertraveller 36 .com.au
