I have seen and handled this fragment. I was amazed at the very fineness of the embroidery itself as well as taken by the colouring which is both simple and sophisticated. The density of the embroidery could almost suggest weaving but the three patterned panels are created by very dense embroidery.
Where the fine stitches caught my attention most - and this is almost a contradiction - is where the vertical (in the image) strips of fabric are attached. See the very last image where a fine line of stitching shows on the lighter indigo fabric. The individual stitches are almost pin pricks!
What a wonder the complete textile must have been and how very many hours, days, months in the making. As a whole the garment is probably long gone but this remaining fragment is still a gem and testament to the original needlewoman.
